I guess it's that game developers will generally make games for the dominant system, and dont really have the incentive to make them for linux. I have seen the future (Actually I haven't :}) and in the future everyone has a linux box, and that's what the games are made for. We can only hope this will happen so the great migration can begin.

Edit for the above comment:

I guess that’s what I meant, about linux supporting games. (I know kids that game with it, Tremulos, Nexuiz, Quake, etc.) It's the game developers that are not supporting Linux. ;)Nice perspective in the comment (Bells and whistles - had me smiling at that one).Cheers! :)

@almostalive2009

Linux does support gaming. A lot of people say linux sucks because it pretty much used to suck a lot more, with all the manual config and install stuff that used to come with it. for this reason it's got a bad rap that people have passed down to others and those others are simply repeating what somebody else told them, which is that "linux sucks." If there was just a way to put in front of them and let them poke around and see what its all about, I think alot of them would fall in love, as I did with ubuntu, then Mint.
Most are afraid of change, and scared if they install a dual-boot they might mess up their uber-expen$ive windows install and have to explain to their friends how they ruined their computer by trying something new that their friends told them "sucked!" Well maybe it's not exactly that way, but something to that tune. I once was afraid, and said "hey I like all the bells and whistles" but now I realize that all the bells and whistles where exactly that, bells and whistles. Now I'm not entirely against Windows, I just get tired of everyone's resistance to change, and to try new things. For goodness sakes people leave the nest, exit the womb, there is a real world out there, and windows is not it. Windows is lke a doting mother that wont let you fly, and be free, but will fill you full of pie, and buy you toys.
I am certain though that for the world to open up and truly embrace linux systems, there must be support for all the popular games. That's truly holding back the flood waters, and when that "Dam" is removed the flood waters will fill the land and there will be a new world.

Having said that, I really think hardware developers and marketers need to reevaluate the sometimes excessive costing when selling preinstalled Linux systems. And… Software developers, like Steam, Adobe, etc. quite frankly should be aware enough to realize the long term growth of Linux (including the migration to it), and develop Linux based versions of their products. Again, the thinking needs to be LONG TERM, not a quick buck in the short term. [...]

[...] What About Linux?
