Earlier last week I was reading some posts in a web hosting forum “Site Backup - Virtual Private Servers (VPS)“, within the post a forum member was trying to facilitate an automated backup system for his important files. In this case they were web based files.
There were some excellent solutions presented, such as Rsync, etc. But I thought that sometimes all we need is a small fix. It left me wondering how well known “Yet Another FTP Client” (Yafc) is? (There are quite a few, but this is one I found on Sourceforge (I think in 2005). It’s a very handy, small client. From their Sourceforge profile:

Last month we posted “Top 100 of the Best (Useful) OpenSource Applications“, which listed some really good open source applications. One of the things missing was a good OpenSource, Flash content creation tool.
It seems there’s a new application in town! On March 25, 2008 the “Salasaga” site announced a snapshot release of their developing (it’s still in Alpha) , “Integrated Development Environment for producing eLearning”. Hello everyone! I’m back from the Easter break and found this little gem in my email. It outlines how to play BlueRay and HD DVD in Ubuntu Linux.
In a nutshell it covers the need for mplayer and ffmpeg as well as DumpHD and the required hardware. I’ve not tried this yet (I don’t have an HD DVD player). I looked at the HD DVD player recommended for this and yikes! The price is $219 CAN. A bit beyond my budget unfortunately. However, that aside, the post is really great!
Hope you enjoy it: RestrictedFormats/BluRayAndHDDVD

error message again, and was looking for a quick fix (as I’d been logging into terminal each time to fix it without rebooting). To my surprise, the issue was way easier to fix than expected! All you’ll need to do is Read the full post…
I received an email earlier today that there was a flavour of Ubuntu Linux that I did not list in an earlier post: “Ubuntu Based Linux, 32 Flavours and Then Some…“. The derivative is called PC/OS. So with excitement, I took a quick peak at the site here: “Welcome to PC/OS“. Given it’s a holiday weekend, this post will be short but, here’s what they have to say about themselves… Read the full post…
