My Music library is about 17,000 songs which is stored on my NAS. It takes about 10 minutes to start listening to music from start up of Amarok. And no, not for spam), but the best I got was to send an email to gmail's spam folder. So I gave up on that and uninstalled all mail-related stuff. For some reason this service was left though!

Yeah I was trying to send emails from the terminal before (to automate sending them. I would not do this on a server. Either way, if it causes issues (maybe because a script or application on the desktop/notebook happens to try and send mail), just turn the service back on. :)

@Vadim P. – Unless I’m out to lunch, you should be able to turn those off ONLY if you don’t send or receive email via SMTP, etc. Actually, you have a good idea for those who only use a web browser for email (using “webmail”). Gently - Thanks. :) I agree, the first time I looked, I thought that I couldn't possibly need all that running. Almost like another well know OS. Hee hee hee...
I took a look at your blog... Way Cool! I especially liked your "How Tos" page here: http://linuxtidbits.wordpress.com/howtos/ The Gentoo install Stage I was great. I remember the first time I tried Gentoo (a few years ago) I gave up on it. Not so much because of the OS, but because I didn't have the knowledge to install it properly. Linux has come a long way. I guess I'll have to use your "How To" and drag an old PC out to give Gentoo a proper installation. :) It helps when you know what you're doing. ;)On a side note, there's a reader (m_gol) who commented here: http://ubuntulinuxhelp.com/adobe-flash-on-firefox-3-beta/
He can't get Flash working again for some reason. I saw a blurb about the Firefox beta on your blog. Do you have any ideas about this?Have a good one! :)

@Dirk R. I never looked when I had Ubuntu, yeesh, there are a lot of them.

nice, i don’t see alot of people talking about lightening load by dropping runtime daemon support.
